Dyslipidemia

Dyslipidemia is a type of lifestyle-related disease, commonly seen in modern populations. It is caused by factors such as the westernization of diets, lack of exercise, and stress, leading to an imbalance of lipids in the blood. In particular, a high intake of saturated fats and carbohydrates is known to raise cholesterol levels. Dyslipidemia is often asymptomatic, meaning that most people do not experience noticeable symptoms. However, if left untreated, it can lead to arteriosclerosis, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Therefore, it is important to regularly check blood lipid levels through health checkups and to adopt appropriate treatments such as dietary modifications, exercise, and medication when necessary.

Types of dyslipidemia include high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia), high triglycerides (hypertriglyceridemia), and mixed dyslipidemia. All of these are risk factors for heart disease and cerebrovascular disease.

Treatment for dyslipidemia begins with lifestyle changes. A balanced diet, regular exercise, moderate alcohol consumption, and smoking cessation are the key elements of managing the condition. In some cases, medication may also be required. Statins and fibrates are commonly prescribed medications, and these should be taken under the guidance of a physician.

At our clinic, we provide tailored treatment plans based on each patient’s health condition. Regular health checkups are essential for early detection and proper treatment of dyslipidemia.
