How we use Temi

At our outpatient clinic, we utilize the autonomous robot ‘Temi’ to support our operations. For patients who require more detailed diagnoses or initial assessments, we have a system in place that allows for conferences with doctors from partner medical institutions at any time.

Temi, typically stationed at its home base (charging station), can be operated remotely via a smartphone or computer to move to the consultation room, where discussions about the patient’s condition can be held. Even when doctors are at home-care sites, the patient’s condition can be monitored in real time via a smartphone by both the AI-powered system and the clinic’s attending doctor, allowing for timely conferences. Temi also memorizes maps of various locations in the clinic, such as the endoscopy center, reception, waiting room, and counseling room, facilitating smooth communication and meetings among staff.

In the field of home medical care, which our clinic also partners with, we have established a system to conduct conferences using AI monitors and smartphones for patients who need more detailed diagnoses or initial assessments, even at home. Doctors can connect flexibly from anywhere via smartphones, allowing for real-time face-to-face discussions with the patient, visiting nurses, and caregivers. Additionally, since the robot knows the layout of the patient’s home, if the patient is not in their usual location, the robot can be remotely controlled to find the patient, communicate with them, and assess their condition. The robot’s presence in the home also allows for timely intervention in case of accidents, such as falls in the entrance or bathroom.

At Medical Clinic Azamino, a partner clinic, we were the first in Japan to introduce Temi in the home-care field. In one case, the son of a terminal cancer patient used the robot to frequently communicate with his father, providing emotional support and maintaining close watch over his condition even from afar. Similarly, another patient’s son used the robot to monitor his mother’s daily life, including her eating habits and routine tasks such as opening and closing curtains, while coordinating care with visiting nurses and care managers. The family also shared operational rights of Temi, allowing them to communicate with the patient from various locations, offering emotional support and care remotely.”

Counseling Room

The counseling room is a private space designed to ensure confidentiality. Here, patients can receive consultations on health-related topics such as diet and nutrition management. Additionally, we have provisions in place to accommodate patients with mobility issues or severe symptoms, utilizing this spacious and calm environment to provide appropriate care.

Rest and Waiting Space

This area serves as a rest and waiting space for health checkup (Ningen Dock) and outpatients. It offers a calm environment, making it suitable for performing tasks or work while waiting.
